With the help from his wife Queen Elizabeth (Carter) he meets a speech therapist named Lionel Logan (Rush). Within the king's days of going to therapy, Logan is trying to help prepare him every step of the way for his big speech in London. The treatment involves strengthening his diaphragm and constant repeats and motions to help him prevent his stutter. With this help both develop a friendship and become partners.
